Mid-South Spotlight: Superlatives for the region’s top WRs – Rivals.com

The Mid-South region is loaded with talent at wide receiver in the next few recruiting classes. Rivals.com national recruiting analyst Cole Patterson hands out superlatives for a handful of different positional-related categories.

BEST HANDS: Dakorien Moore

Moore catches just about anything that is thrown his way. From routine grabs to acrobatic catches, Moore is a quarterback’s best friend when the ball is in the air. He shines game after game on Friday nights against top-level competition in the Lone Star State and arguably had the catch of the summer during the Overtime 7-on-7 Tournament in California earlier this spring. Moore was recently elevated to five-star status by Rivals and has a strong case to move up even higher in the rankings.

LSU pledge Billiot has eye-popping size and frame at a listed 6-foot-3 and nearly 200 pounds. He turned heads at one of the Tigers’ prospect camps earlier this summer, where he added an offer from Brian Kelly‘s staff and wasted little time in committing. The rising wideout has a big wingspan and impressive leaping ability that allows him to win contested catch situations. His stock is hot ahead of his senior season in the Bayou.

BEST SPEED: Ernest Campbell

Campbell is the easy choice for this category. The recent Texas A&M commit clocked in blazing times of 10.22 in the 100-meter dash and 20.92 in the 200 meters earlier this spring, putting his speed on full display. He has multiple honors on the track, and the speed translates to the football field. Campbell is a standout player on a perennial state title contender, where he impacts the game on all three phases. He has the potential to add another dimension to the offense of Jimbo Fisher and Bobby Petrino in College Station.

BEST ROUTE RUNNING: Micah Hudson

Micah Hudson (Rivals.com)

Hudson can be a candidate for multiple of these categories, as he stands out in just about everything that he does. The five-star pass catcher is an effortless route runner that consistently gets open with ease. He has developed an impressive release at the line of scrimmage, displays impressive spatial awareness when running routes, and simply finds ways to create separation from whoever is defending him. Hudson has Day 1 impact ability on the next level and long-term NFL upside.
